Lieut. Tony Bamberg, son of Mr. and Mrs. L.N. Bamberg of LeMars, will soon complete his training in the Second Air Force at Dalhart, Texas, and in the near future he will go overseas. He is at present receiving an important part of his training as a pilot. He is expected home on a visit before he goes overseas.

NEWS OF THE BOYS IN THE SERVICE.
First Lt. Tony O. Bamberg of LeMars has been assigned as an instructor pilot at Alexandria Army Air Field, a Flying Fortress combat crew training center.
Alexandria Army Air Field is part of the Second Air Force, which trains the bulk of the heavy bombardment crews in the United States. Lt. Bamberg, who was a reporter for the Globe-Post before entering the military service, is the son of Mrs. Mary Bamberg, 115 Fifth Ave. SW, LeMars. He attended the Western Union College.

Lt. Tony Bamberg Now A Benedict
A clipping for a Lincoln, Nebr. Daily was handed us by Frank Jemming of that city who spent the holidays here. Under the heading “Marriage Licenses” were the names:
Tony Owen Bamberg, LeMars, Iowa, 24, Edna M. Jarrett, Ringham, Louisville, Ky., 25.
First Lieut. Tony O. Bamberg, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. N. Bamberg and Miss Jarrett Ringham were married Dec. 16, at the Army air field at Lincoln, Nebr., according to the LeMars Globe-Post.
Miss Ringham is the only daughter of Mrs. Sara Alma Ringham of Vincennes, Ind. The bride attended the university at Louisville, Ky.
Lt. Bamberg was a member of K. Co. of LeMars and went to Camp Claiborne, La., for training with the company, but was later transferred to aviation and won his commission. He has been an instructor at Alexandria, La., for the past two years but is now training with a combat crew.

Lieut. Tony Bamberg Missing In Action On German Front
Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Bamberg of Columbus, Nebraska, former LeMars residents, were notified by the War Department last Wednesday that their son, Lt. Tony O. Bamberg, has been reported missing in action in Germany since April 8.
Lt. Bamberg was a member of Co. K and left for service in February, 1941, going to Camp Claiborne, La., for his initial training. He was an instructor for two years at Alexandria, and since going overseas in December, 1944, has completed 20 missions.
Lt. Bamberg had been a resident of LeMars until entering the service. His wife resides at Louisville, Kentucky.

Anthony Owen “Tony” Bamberg was born Apr. 14, 1920 to Lorenz Nicholas and Mayme Beatrice Kain Bamberg. He died Apr. 8, 1945 and is buried in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Lemay, MO. Tony was declared MIA on Apr. 8, 1945 and declared KIA May 1, 1946. He was awarded the Air Medal and Oak Leaf Cluster.
