Lt. A. Arensdorf Killed in Action
Lt. Arthur B. Arensdorf, 29, with a tank battalion in Gen. Patton’s Third army, was killed in action in Belgium January 16, according to information from the War Department. He was graduated from Central high school where he was a star athlete.
He entered service four years ago, served in the Aleutian islands for 13 months and in Alaska for 11 months. He took officer training at Fort Knox, Ky., later was transferred to Camp Gordon, Ga. He went to France where he had been since August 1944.

Purple Heart to Lt. A. Arensdorf, Posthumously
Lt. Arthur B. Arensdorf, formerly of Sioux City, has been awarded the Purple Heart posthumously. His mother, Mrs. Genevieve Arensdorf of San Francisco, has received the award. Lt. Arensdorf was killed in action in Belgium on January 16, 1945. He was with the Third army under Gen. Patton. Lt. Arensdorf was a graduate of Central high school and was a star athlete.

To Honor Officer at Service Sunday
A five minute memorial service will be held during the 11 a.m. services Sunday at Whitfield Methodist Church for Lt. Arthur B. Arensdorf, who was killed in action in Belgium January 16, 1945. He was buried at Grand Failly, France.
Lt. Arensdorf was the son of Mrs. Genevieve Arensdorf, who now resides in San Francisco. Mrs. Arensdorf will attend the services. Lt. Arensdorf was graduated from Central High School in 1933 and lived here with his family before entering the armed forces. His mother moved to California six years ago.
Rev. Harry M. Burns, pastor, will be in charge of the service.
