S/Sgt. Marion D. Andringa

 

 

ORANGE CITYAN WINS AIR MEDAL 

          

Hospital, Tenth Air Force in Burma.—Maj. Gen. Howard C. Davidson, commanding general of the United States 10th army air force in Burma, pins the air medal on S. Sgt. Marion D. Andringa, 21, son of Mrs. Anna Andringa, Orange City, Ia.  The award was made for Sgt. Andringa’s meritorious achievement as a surgical technician with a medical air evacuation squadron of the 10th air force.

His citation with the decoration states he participated in operational flights totaling more than 100 hours over Burma when enemy attack was expected and probable.  The flights were made for the purpose of evacuating sick and wounded from forward areas.

The sergeant has served two years in the armed forces, including nine months in the India-Burma theater.  He has flow nearly 200 hours in line of duty.  He was a barber in civilian life.
