Lt. R. Andrews, Gruver, Ia., Flier, Killed in France
Gruver, Ia.—Special: Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Andrews, Gruver, have been informed by the War Department that their son, Lt. Richard Andrews, 25, who entered the air corps in June, 1942, was killed over France on May 11, 1944. He previously had been reported missing in action and was believed to have been a German prisoner.
Four other sons of Mr. and Mrs. Andrews are in the services. Lt. Andrews was a grandson of Charles E. Fuller, pioneer Emmet county resident, who lives in Gruver.

First Lieutenant Richard C. Andrews, U.S. Army Air Corps was also KIA and is buried in Ardennes American Cemetery, Neupre, Belgium. Lt. Andrews was awarded the Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters.
His brother, Harold Loyd Andrews was born June 3, 1927 to Arthur Charles and Leila Louise Fuller Andrews. He died Mar. 16, 1945 and buried in Ardennes American Cemetery, Neupre, Belgium and has a cenotaph in East Side Cemetery, Estherville, IA.
Pvt. Harold Andrews served in World War II with the U.S. Army 180th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Division and was KIA and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
