Pvt. Arthur Anderson, Former Sioux Cityan, Is Reported Missing
Pvt. Arthur C. Anderson, a former Sioux Cityan, with an infantry unit on the western front, was reported as missing as of about February 9, friends here have been informed.
The young man went into the service in March of 1944. He was stationed at Camps Stewart and Gordon, both in Georgia; and went overseas in January of 1945.
Before entering the service he had been a casket salesman with headquarters in Sioux City. He once resided at 3114 Morrison street.
A friend here said that he had corresponded with the infantryman on several occasions. More recently the soldier had been stationed in Luxembourg. He formerly resided in Des Moines.
His wife, Hazel, resides temporarily in Boone.

Pvt. Arthur C. Anderson Was First Listed Missing
Pvt. Arthur C. Anderson, a former Sioux Cityan with an infantry unit on the Western Front, was reported Wednesday by the war department as “killed in action.”
A friend of the family, Julius P. Banhart, 3114 Morrison Street, said that the word was received by the soldier’s widow, Hazel, residing temporarily in Boone, and that she had relayed the information here. Mrs. Banhart is with the widow.
Recently information was received here that the soldier was missing as of about February 9.
He entered the service in March of 1944 and went overseas in January of 1945.
Mr. Banhart said that he had corresponded with Pvt. Anderson and the last letter came from Luxembourg. The soldier had been employed here as a casket salesman.

Pvt. Arthur C. Anderson served in World War II with the U.S. Army 319th Infantry Regiment, 80th Infantry Division. He is buried in Luxembourg American Cemetery in Luxembourg. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
