Arland R. Andersen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard A. Andersen, 706 W. First Street now is stationed at the Marine Corps training station at San Diego. Private Andersen was a member of the last contingent of marine enlistees to leave Sioux City before the recent presidential order stopped voluntary enlistments.

Glenn Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Anderson, 706 W. First street, has been promoted to the rank of machinist mate third class. He is at the naval aviation service station at Alameda, Cal. His brother, Cpl. Arland Anderson, is in aviation service with the First Marine Wing in the Philippines.

Arland R. Anderson, recently promoted to sergeant, is serving in the Philippines as an aviation machinist mate. He enlisted in the Marines in December, 1942, and was sent overseas about a year ago. His wife and 2-year-old son live at 524 W. First street.

Sgt. Arland Anderson has completed a 30-day leave with his wife and son, 524 w. First Street and parents, Mr. and Mrs Richard Anderson, 708 W. First Street, and has reported to Cherry Point, North Carolina for further assignments. An aviation machinist’s mate in the Marine Corps, he served 16 months in the Philippines, Solomon and Bougainville Islands.

Arland Robert Anderson was born June 11, 1923 to Richard A. and Gertie R. Christensen Anderson. He died Dec. 26, 1985 and is buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, IA.
Arland served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps.
