Raymond Aloysius Quigley was born Mar. 4, 1916 to Frank and Nellie A. “Ellen” Gaffney Quigley. He died Feb. 28. 1942 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines and has a cenotaph in Saint Francis Cemetery, Belmond, IA.
Petty Officer Quigley served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Houston (CA-30) and was MIA/FOD/KIA when the Houston was sunk in the Battle of Sunda Strait. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
