Lester K. Ellingson was born Nov. 17, 1917 to John H. and Lesa Sophia Vinje Ellingson. He died Mar. 1, 1944 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines and in Big Canoe Lutheran Cemetery, Winneshiek County, IA.

Sgt. Ellingson served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps Headquarters Squadron, XIII Bomber Command as a gunner on B-24D #42-40877 which took off with a crew of 10 on a training and they crashed in the sea near Buena Vista Island, Solomon Islands. He was declared MIA.

Nathan “Hoot” Ellingson was born Sept. 9, 1905 to Ole O. and Helen Nesheim Ellingson. He died Aug. 9, 1985 and is buried in Lutheran Cemetery, Decorah, IA.

Petty Officer Ellingson served in World War II with the U.S. Navy 17th and 120th Seabees in Africa and Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit #617 in Rhode Island and Okinawa.

Alvin Selmer Engan was born June 22, 1916 to Sam P. and Bertha Anderson Engan. He died Apr. 20, 1945 and was buried on Okinawa and has a cenotaph in Hesper Public Cemetery, Winneshiek County, IA.

Sgt. Engan served in World War II with the U.S. Army 382nd Infantry, 96th Division and was MIA/KIA on Okinawa.

Merlan Bernell Erickson was born June 12, 1926 to Oscar Julius and Marie Louise Sorenson Erickson. He died Jan. 16, 1947 and is buried in Springwater Cemetery, Winneshiek County, IA.

Merlan served in World War II with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific.
