Sgt. Stachovic served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 310th Bomb Squadron and was killed in a fire and explosion which occurred when the plane, on which he was working, was accidentally struck by another plane which was taking off.

Gelo Erwin Staggs was born Jan. 1, 1922 to Ortho Thomas and Sylvia Belle Loughead Staggs. He died July 29, 1944 and is buried in New Albany National Cemetery, New Albany, IN.
Sgt. Staggs served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps and died as a crew member on a B-24 (Liberator) bomber which failed to take off and crashed at the end of the runway in England.
