Joseph Wayne Lewis was born Apr. 10, 1921 to John Robert and Mary G. Wilcox Lewis. He died Jan. 14, 1945 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands.
1st Lt. Lewis served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 571st Bomber Squadron, 390th Bomber Group, Heavy and was MIA/KIA on a bombing mission to Germany. He was awarded the Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters. He was living in Dixon, IA prior to his entry in the armed services.
