Robert Keith Buffington was born Aug. 31, 1919 to Richard M. and Vertie E. Jennings Buffington. He died July 29, 1944 and is buried in Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France.

1st Lt. Buffington served in World War II with the U.S. Army 743rd Tank Battalion and was awarded the Purple Heart with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters.
