Edward Lester Thomas was born Dec. 21, 1924 to William “Bill” and Lona Ghent Thomas. He died June 3, 2012 and is buried in Lowman Cemetery, Runnells, IA. Edward served in World War II with the U.S. Army. His unit landed on Utah Beach on D-Day plus 4 and moved on into the Battle of the Bulge.

William H. Thomas was born May 15, 1922 to William “Bill” and Lona Ghent Thomas. He died Apr. 10, 2000 and is buried in Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Council Bluffs, IA. William served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II.

Eugene Franklin Thomas was born Nov. 6, 1925 to Frank James and Myrtle Mabrier Thomas. He died June 3, 1944, was buried at sea, and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France.

Petty Officer Thomas served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Rich (DE-695) which was sunk by mines near Saint-Marcouf Islands on June 8 while she was in the process of taking the USS Glennon (DD-620) in tow. From 6-8 June, the Rich screened the heavier units as they supplied gunfire support for the troops landing on Utah Beach.

Harvey D. Thomas was born Dec. 11, 1915 to Edward Clyde and Edith May Owens Thomas. He died May 2, 2015 and is buried in Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Adel, IA.

Pvt. Thomas served in World War II with the U.S. Army, participating in the Battle of Attu, Aleutian Islands in 1943.

Hobart Hare “Throck" Throckmorton was born June 18, 1919 to Tom Bentley and Edna Jeniza Dudley Throckmorton. He died Sept. 25, 1943 and has a cenotaph in Masonic Cemetery, Des Moines, IA. He is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii. 

Lt. JG Throckmorton served with the U.S. Naval Air Corps in World War II and was MIA/KIA in an airplane crash in Adak, Alaska.

Lawrence Elmer Thornton was born Mar. 25, 1926 to Elmer Foreaker and Anna Amalia Saathoff Thornton. He died Mar. 20, 1945 and is buried in Glendale Cemetery, Polk Co., IA. He was initially buried in the 5th Marine Division Cemetery on Iwo Jima.

Pvt. Thornton served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps 27th Marines, 5th Marine Division and was KIA in combat operations on Iwo Jima.
