William Earville Avise was born July 5, 1923 to William Edward and Gladys Underwood Avise. He died Aug. 21, 1944 and was buried at sea. He is memorialized at the Courts of the Missing, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii and in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Des Moines, IA. Cpl.
Avise served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps Headquarters Squadron, 23rd Marine Aircraft Group 23, Third Marine Aircraft Wing. He died from complications from a car accident on Midway Island.
He was honored with a Combat Action Ribbon, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, American Campaign Medal, Navy & Marine Presidential Unit Citation, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.

Salvador Albert Ayala was born June 3, 1922 to Ben and Juana Ayala. He died May 15, 2017 and is buried in Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Adel, IA.
Coxswain Ayala served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Burns (DD-488).
