Pvt. Pater served in World War II with the U.S. Army 789th Field Artillery Battalion and died in the Pacific area while in the service of his country.

Richard Pater was born Aug. 27, 1919 to Elbert and Rijkje “Reka” Lagerwey Pater. He died Oct. 4, 1944 and is buried in Lorraine American Cemetery, St. Avold, France.

Pvt. Pater served in World War II with the U.S. Army 315th Infantry Regiment, 79th Infantry Division and died in a plane crash while in the service of his country.
