Robert Donald Jenks was born Dec. 15, 1922 to Arthur Leroy and Margaret Mary Frank Jenks. He died Nov. 23, 1943 and is memorialized at the Courts of the Missing, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii (a rosette is placed next to his name to indicate his remains have been found.) On Feb. 4, 2019 the DPAA officially identified the remains of Robert and they have been returned to American soil.

Pvt. Jenks served with the U.S. Marine Corps, 2nd Marine Division in World War II and was KIA on Tarawa, Gilbert Islands. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, Marine Corps Presidential Unit Citation, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign Medal, Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, and the Gold Star Lapel Button.
