Roderick Frederick MacDougal was born May 7, 1909 to Wilbur Edwin and Mary A. Weymouth MacDougal. He died in Feb. 1944 and was buried in Brookwood American Military Cemetery, Brookwood, England and returned to Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor, Maine July 23, 1948.

Capt. MacDougal served in World War II with the U.S. Army and died of acute heart failure following an attack of influenza. He served in Liverpool, England.

Robert Russel Mach was born Mar. 13, 1925 to Joseph A. and Alma Marie Sedlacek Mach. He died Sept. 21, 1944 and is buried in Lorraine American Cemetery, St. Avold, France.

Pvt. Mach served in World War II with the U.S. Army 134th Infantry Regiment, 35th Infantry Division and was KIA in France and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Frank Edward Machen was born Oct. 6, 1920 to Frank E. and Ethel Hoyland Machen. He died Dec. 31, 1944 and is buried in Ardennes American Cemetery, Neupre, Belgium.

Sgt. Machen served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 728th Bomber Squadron, 452nd Bomber Group, Heavy and was KIA and awarded the Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters.

Joseph J. Mahoney was born Mar. 21, 1921 to Dannie J. and Elizabeth McAreavy Mahoney. He died Nov. 21, 1944 and is buried in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Walker, IA.

Sgt. Mahoney served in World War II with the U.S. Army 120th Infantry and was KIA in Germany while serving his country.

John Vladimir Manak was born Feb. 2, 1922 to John Vladimir and Frances A. Koshoshek Manak. He died Apr. 28, 1944 and is memorialized at the tablets of the Missing, Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, England and has a cenotaph in Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, IA.

Pvt. Manak served in World War II with the U.S. Army 3206th Quartermaster Service Company and was KIA and awarded the Purple Heart.

Wallace Edwin Maring was born July 6, 1925 to J. F. and Letha Marie Lenhart Maring. He died Sept. 3, 2017 and is buried in Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Adel, IA.

Cpl. Maring served with the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II.

Lt. Marion served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 311th Fighter Squadron, 58th Fighter Group and died in Mindora while in the service of his country.

James Alexander Marshall, Jr. was born July 12, 1917 to James Alexander (Sr.) and Emma Adeline Conrad Marshall. He died Jan. 10, 1945 and is memorialized at the Courts of the Missing, Court 7, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii and has a cenotaph in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.

Pvt. Marshall served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 883rd Bomber Squadron, 500th Bomber Group, Very Heavy and was KIA and awarded the Purple Heart and Air Medal.

Wyman Fiske Marshall was born May 6, 1893 to Charles Hodge and Maude A. Fiske Marshall. He died Jan. 8, 1983 in Pendleton, OR.

Brig. Gen. Marshall served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He also served in World War I and Korea. He was awarded the Silver Star, Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Presidential Unit Citation and Campaign Awards. On Aug. 23-24, 1942 he served as a pilot in the first mass transfer of a squadron of 12 Marine Air Transports (R4-D’s) from the U.S. to the South Pacific.

Burton served with the U.S. Navy in World War II.

Verle V. Masterhan was born Nov. 6, 1914 to George Henry and Edna Blanche Grafft Masterhan. He died Nov. 7, 1998 and is buried in Mount Clark Cemetery, Central City, IA.

Verle served in World War II with the U.S. Army Co. C, 28th Infantry in the European Theatre and received the Purple Heart.
