Eldon Ray Noelting was born Feb. 27, 1920 to Leslie John and Esther L. McKinney Noelting. He died July 6, 1943 and has a cenotaph in Dumont Cemetery, Dumont, IA.
Petty Officer Noelting served in World War Ii with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Helena (CL-50) when that ship was torpedoed and sunk during an engagement with enemy ships in the Kula Gulf in the Pacific area. He was MIA/FOD/KIA and was awarded the Purple Heart.
