Cpl. McCubbin served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 719th Bomber Squadron, 449th Bomber Group and was MIA after the aircraft in which he was a crew member disappeared over the Adriatic Sea. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Air Medal.
