James Thomas “Jimmie" O’Brien was born Feb. 18, 1924 to James Edward and Geraldine Marie Barrett O’Brien. He died Mar. 13, 1944 and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Hombourg, Belgium and in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, IA.

Sgt. O’Brien served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 568th Bomber Squadron, 390th Bomber Group, Heavy as the tail gunner on B17G “Anoxia Queen” when it went down in the sea off the coast of Belgium after being hit by anti-aircraft fire. His body was never recovered. He was MIA/KIA and awarded the Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster.

John F. O’Connor was born June 18, 1917 to Francis and Verna Lee Atkison O’Connor. He died Mar. 5, 1943 and is buried in Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Farley, IA.

Pvt. O’Connor served in World War II with the U.S. Army Headquarters Company, 414th Infantry and died in the hospital at Camp Adair, OR as a result of an accident.

Richard John O’Connor was born Mar. 15, 1919 to James C. and Bernice Virginia Lucas O’Connor. He died Nov. 30, 1944 and is buried in Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands. 

1st Lt. O’Connor served in World War II as a Pilot with the 384th Fighter Squadron, 364th Fighter Group. He flew a P-51D #44-13999 escorting B-17s on a mission to bomb the Braunk oil refinery at Zeita, Germany. He was KIA and awarded the Air Medal and Purple Heart.

James J. O’Leary was born in 1920. He died Jan. 19, 1946 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Taguig City, Philippines.

Lt. O’Leary served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 311th Fighter Squadron, 58th Fighter Group and was MIA/FOD/KIA and awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Purple Heart and Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster.

John Henry O’Neill was born May 17, 1924 to Augustine Michael and Stasia Duffy O’Neill. He died Dec. 19, 2000 and is buried in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Dubuque, IA. John served with the U.S. Army in World War II.

Robert Francis O’Toole was born Dec. 3, 1924 to Thomas P. and Evelyn L. Schreiber O’Toole. He died Feb. 6, 1944 and is buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Hawaii.

Pvt. O’Toole served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps.

Vincent Oscar Oeschger was born Apr. 5, 1922 to Charles and Gertrude Schaeffer Oeschger. He died May 27, 1944 and is buried in Saint Marys Cemetery, Cascade, IA.

Pvt. Oeschger served in World War II with the U.S. Army 157th Infantry, 45th Infantry Division and was KA in Italy in the service of his country.

Oliver Charles Ohnesorge was born July 6, 1925 to Oliver and Eleanor Ohnesorge. He died June 24, 1944 and is buried in Linwood Cemetery, Dubuque, IA.

Pvt. Ohnesorge served with the U.S. Army 8th Infantry, 4th Infantry Division and was KIA in Normandy, France.
