Leroy Melvin Bowen was born Mar. 3, 1920 to Lee Washington and Lena Funk Bowen. He died Apr. 5, 1944 and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, East Coast Memorial, New York City, NY and has a cenotaph in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Eudora, Arkansas.
Petty Officer Bowen served in World War II with the U.S. Navy and was MIA/KIA and awarded the Purple Heart.
