Willard James Hadjes was born Sept. 15, 1918 to Gust K. and Waneta Thayer Hadjes. He died Nov. 15, 1994.
1st Lt. Hadjes served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 8th Air Force, 1st Bomb Division. 398th Bomb Group as a pilot on a B-17 and flew to the Gold Beach Area on D-Day. He became a German POW.

Petty Officer Hansen served in World War II with the U.S. Navy and was MIA/KIA when the plane he was serving aboard took of from the Naval Air Station, San Diego, CA on a practice flare illumination of a submarine and a routine night simulated radar approach and attack exercise. The plane disappeared and pieces of wreckage were later sighted. His body was not recovered.
