Petty Officer Somermeyer served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Chicago (CA-29, USS Chicago (CA-136), USS Sangamon (CVE-26), and USS Vicksburg (CL-86). He was a survivor of the sinking of the USS Chicago (CA-29) which was sunk in combat with Japanese torpedo planes near Guadalcanal.

Clifford Earl Soride was born Oct. 13, 1925 to Herman and Inez Hanson Soride. He died May 7, 2000 and is buried in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon, IA.

Sgt. Soride served in World War II with the U.S. Army and saw duty in Japan, Korea, and the Asiatic Pacific.
