Melvin W. Dyke was born Dec. 8, 1906 to John and Anna Belle Downing Dyke. He died Jan. 3, 1981 and is buried in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, McGregor, IA.

Pvt. Dyke served in World War II with the U.S. Army 17th Infantry, 7th Division an 534th Quartermaster Company in the Alaska campaigns, in several Pacific island invasions and then was stationed in Hawaii.
