PFC. Leo Bliven of the marines has advised his brother, Ed Bliven, 3114 Euclid Avenue, that he now is serving in Peipings, China. PFC. Bliven has been overseas two years on Guadalcanal, Saipan, Guam and Okinawa, as well as several other Pacific Islands. Before going to Peiping he was stationed at Tientsin and Tongku, China.
CPL. Paul V Barrett has arrived in Seattle after 20 months of service in the amphibious force in the Pacific and will be sent to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas for discharge, following which he will make his home with his brother Ray at 2308 S. Cypress Street.
Robert W. Meloy, 19th Street, has been honorably discharged from the navy at the separation center at Shoemaker, Cal.
Paul A. Leahy, 1113 18th Street; Allwn B. Carpenter, 1221 Wall Street, Robert J. Rarick, 4448 Tyler Street, L.E. Shellenberger, 2801 N. Irene Street, Durwood R. Hansen, 2308 S. Royce Street and Maynard H. Porter, 1825 W. 16th Street haven been honorably discharged from the navy at the Minneapolis separation center.
PFC. James T. Berthelsen is visiting his wife, Mary Lou, at their home at 511 W. 26th Street, on a 30-day furlough following his reenlistment in the regular army. PFC. Berthelsen will report January 6 at Greensboro, N.C. for a year’s assignment to an overseas theater.
