Lieut. Margaret Shaughnessy of Brooks General hospital, Fort Sam Houston, Texas, is home on a 10-day leave visiting her mother, Mrs. Kathryn Shaughnessy, 3219 Pierce Street.
Private Ray R.R. Maron, son of Mr. and Mrs. L.H. Maron, 907 Court Street, whose wife lives with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Odell, 2017 Ingleside Avenue, has completed an orientation course at an air service command station in England. He has two daughters, Mary and Pat.
Lieut. Maurice Fitzgibbons, Jr. son of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Fitzgibbons, 603 Pearl Street, has reported to the Bainbridge army airfield, Bainbridge, La., where he will assume administrative duties. Lieut. Fitzgibbons joined the Air Forces December 28, 1943.
James C. Brown and Dennis F. Brunson were among those who were graduated from Company 28, diesel, at the naval training school, Iowa State College, Ames, Iowa.
Private Chleo J. Weins has returned to Truax field, Madison, Wis., where he is an instructor, after spending a 10-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Weins, 2110 W. Sixth Street.
Corporal Victor Johnson recently spent a short furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Johnson, 2824 Third Street after spending three years service in the Aleutian area. He is stationed now at Medford, Ore.
Private First class N. Sensanbaugh is spending a 15-day furlough with his mother, Mrs. E. Sensanbaugh, and his grandmother, Mrs. A. Suter, 215 George Street. He also will visit relatives at Freeport and Chicago. He is stationed at Shreveport, La., attached to an armored division.
Sergeant James L. Travis of the air corps, an accredited operator in the control tower at Lowry field, Denver, Colo., is spending a two-week furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph M. Travis, and his sister Darlene at 815 27th Street.
William H. Marsh has been names honor man of his class in radioman school at the naval training station at Farragut, Idaho. His wife, Frances, resides at 804 Pierce Street, and his parents at Jackson, Nebraska. He is a graduate of the St. Catherine’s high school at Jackson. He was chosen honor man on the basis of grade averages in his class.
Sergeant Max Rich of an anti-aircraft group stationed at Camp Haan, Cal., is spending a furlough with his mother, Mrs. Sarah Rich, 719 W. Eighth Street.
Orrin A. Davis, commissary officer, air transport command, Las Vegas, N.M. has been promoted from first lieutenant to captain. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Scott J. Davis, route 1, Sioux City. He is a graduate of Central high school and attended Iowa State College and the National Business Training School. He enlisted in the air corps December 29, 1941, and was stationed at Tampa, Fla. He took officers training course at Camp Lee, Va., and was assigned to Las Vegas December 23, 1942. Lilmar Davis, a brother, third class petty officer, is on a battleship.
Sergeants Art and William Hafits of Kearney, Nebraska, air Base, twin sons of Mr. and Mrs. David Hafits, 1419 Virginia Street, spent Easter weekend with their parents. They had as a guest Staff Sergeant Max Brownstein of Buffalo, N.Y. who also is stationed at the Kearney base.
Private First Class Harold R. Edwards, son of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Edwards, 2508 First Street, is home on a 15-day furlough from Camp White, Ore., where he is serving in the infantry. He was accompanied by his wife.
Jack Reinking, stationed at Camp Shelby, Miss., has been promoted to staff sergeant, his parents, Dr. and Mrs. M.E. Reinking, 3403 Jennings Street, learned Tuesday.
George Nuessle, 1425 Irene Street, has been assigned to the Marine Corps station at San Diego. He left Sioux City March 31.
Keith R. Sluyter, son of Mrs. W.H. Sluyter, 4226 ½ Van Buren Street, has begun flight training at the 55th army air forces flying detachment, Bennettsville, S.C. upon completing his primary flight training. Aviation Cadet Sluyter will be advanced to a basic flying school in the eastern flying training command.
Private Ivan B. Gill, on a 20-day furlough, and his wife are visiting in the home of their parents, Mrs. Irma B. Gill, 402 S. Rustin Avenue and Mr. and Mrs. C.J. Sease, 406 S. Helen Street. Private Gill is a member of the army air corps and for the last four months has been stationed at the army airfield, Lincoln, Nebraska where he recently completed his technical training in airplane mechanics.
Everett N. Delashmutt, son of Mr. and Mrs. D.E. Delashmutt, 1901 24th Street, has been promoted to first lieutenant at Rosencrans field, MO. He is the eldest of three brothers serving in the army air corps. He is a graduate of Central High School and of Wayne State College, Wayne, Nebraska. For the last year he has been an instructor and navigator. His wife is the former Sarah Shipley of Dennison, Texas. Lieut. Delashmutt enlisted August 8, 1940.
Hal E. Barger, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Hal Barger, 229 S. Martha Street, recently was graduated from the Naval Air Technical Training Center at Norman, Okla., and is awaiting active duty orders.
Capt. George E. Conroy, Shepard apartments, who recently returned from overseas, is stationed at an Army Air Force redistribution station at Miami Beach, Florida, awaiting further assignment. Capt. Conroy flew for 1,025 hours as a C-47 and C-57 pilot in the Middle East. His wife, Aris Lucille Conroy, resides in Sioux City and his mother, Mrs. Edith Conroy lives at Gaines, Mich.
Lieut. Eileen O’Brien, army air corps nurse at Amarillo airfield station hospital, Amarillo, Texas is a guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T.E. O’Brien, 206 12th Street. Seaman Second Class Robert Montgomery of Norfolk, Nebr., a nephew of Mr. and Mrs. O’Brien, stationed at Great Lakes naval training school, also is a guest.
Private First Class Marie E. Borowsky is spending a 15-day furlough with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Bell, 609 Market Street. She is serving as a dental hygienist and is stationed at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
Aviation Cadet Jean F. Jolin, son of Capt and Mrs. Leo E. Jolin, 1707 Jones Street, has been graduated from preflight school and is taking training in an advanced school as a navigator at Ellington field, Texas.
Tryg Rostad who recently received promotion to sergeant has been transferred to Camp Pinedale, California, from Hattiesburg army air base, Mississippi. His wife expects to join him soon. Corporal Arne Rostad, a brother, is stationed somewhere in England. Private Marvin Rodvold, a cousin, is stationed somewhere in Italy.
Private John W. Whitcher of the medical corps at Camp Barkley, Texas on furlough is visiting his parents, Patrolman and Mrs. John Whitcher, at North Riverside.
Sergeant Charles B. Verlinden of the army air corps, who has been on antisubmarine duty in the Caribbean Sea, is spending a 20-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. Verlinden, 1523 Nebraska Street.
Aviation Cadet Eugene Paul Cook has been transferred to Brady, Texas, for basic training. His wife and daughters residing at 4420 Third Avenue will leave soon to join him.
Private First Class Blair Burnight, Marine Corps, has arrived at Oakland, California for hospitalization. He is the son of Mrs. Hazel Bollman, 707 Nebraska Street and was injured several months ago in the south pacific.
Miss Betty Jane Montandon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Musser, 4118 Floyd Avenue, was sworn into the Marine Corps January 18 at Des Moines and now is awaiting orders to active duty at Camp LeJeune, New River, N.C.
Virgil P. Reuschling, pharmacist, mate third class, Naval hospital, Brooklyn, N.Y. and Miss Gerry Fallon, Bellerose, Long Island, N.Y., are visiting in the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred C. Reuschling, 2417 Center Street.
Private Don R. Bowden, Camp Callan, California, is spending a 15-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Bowden, 3225 Fourth Street.
Staff Sergeant LeRoy Jarman, stationed in Arizona, arrived here this week to visit his wife and baby. He is on a 15-day furlough.
Aviation Cadet Kenneth D. Speer, son of Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Speer, 4005 Floyd Avenue, has completed his primary training at Rankin academy, Tulare, Cal., and has been transferred to Merced, Cal., where he will take his basic training.
William Koontz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kendall of Stevens, is one of the army specialized training students taking first semester work at Alfred university, Alfred, N.Y.

A list of three Iowans, described by the navy department as being wounded, included the name of Private First Class Donald D. Mock, Marine Corps reserve, of Sioux City.
Roland L. Huff, lieutenant (j.g.) Kalamazoo, Mich., is visiting in the home of his mother, Mrs. William H. Huff, 2018 S. Royce Street, before reporting to Fort Schuyler, New York City, for indoctrination. He was accompanied here by his wife and son and their son, Thomas Tyler. Mrs. Huff is the former Dorothy Caldwell. Lieut. Huff is a graduate of Morningside.
Corporal Floyd Hartman, son of Mr. and Mrs Walter Hartman, Merrill, Iowa has arrived in Sicily, according to word received from him by his parents. Corporal Hartman is a mechanic in the air corps and enlisted in February, 1942.
Private Oscar J. Hebstrom has informed his parents, Mr. and Mrs. P.N. Hebstrom, 135 S. Fawcett Street that he is on duty with a bombing squadron somewhere in the Pacific battle area.
Private Richard M. Lemoureux has returned to Camp Carson, Colorado, after spending a 21-day furlough which his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.N. Lemoureux, 4506 Garfield Street. He had served in the Aleutian Battle area since July.
Robert Mathaidess, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mathaidess, former Sioux Cityans who now live in Omaha, was one of 10 recent graduates at the naval training school, college of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Va. The class consisting of coast guards, navy men, a marine and a Wave recently completed specialized training in music and personnel work. Mathaidess has the distinction of being one of the first eight coast guards to receive the rating of specialist in this field. Before reporting in Boston for duty he expects to spend a February leave in Sioux City. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. J. Radzuweit, 2416 Seventh Street.
