History
According to the 1881 History p. 751 Hilton township "The burying
ground on the north side of the road opposite the church has about a
dozen graves, grounds recently laid out. The history of this cemetery
and its people are in some way an extension of the one north which is
back in the field known as the "Old Nelson" cemetery.
However additional Norweigans moved into Hilton township as other
left. The earliest burials is that of a child of Chris Engelbert
in 1856, or these early stones may have been moved from the " Old
Nelson" cemetery; It is shown on the 1875 Atlas p. 19, on the F.
Fallentinson farm. For the Biographical background of these immig-
rants from Norway check out the Vol. II, of Iowa County History pub-
lished in 1915
