Will of Robert Dennett
1866

WILL OF ROBERT DENNITT. Deceased. late of Boone Co.

In the name of God Amen.

I Robert Dennett of Boone County, State of Iowa, aged fifty seven years, being of sound and deposing mind, make, publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testment.

First, I desire that the executors hereinafter named pay all my just debts and funeral expenses in a reasonable time after my decease.

Second, I desire, bequeath, and will to my beloved wife, Susan Dennett, all my property, real, personal and mixed of every kind and character to hold and to have during the natural term of her life provided she remains unmarried and continues my widow and if she again marries that in that case to have and to hold for her use and benefit untill she so marries and no longer.

Third, After the death or remarrying of my wife the same Susan Dermett and at the time or upon the occuring of either of said events I then desire bequeath and will that all my property, Real, personal amd mixed of every kind and character shall be equally divided among my ten children named as follows: Ezriah Dennett, George Dennett, Wm. Dennett, Aletredge Dennett, Robert Dennett, Joseph Dennett, Sarah Stinson, Ludia Hunford (or Hurford), Anns Dennett, Susan Dennett, but it is my will that those of my children who during my life time have received gifts of property from me shall at said final division have said amount so received charged to them as a protion of their share.

Fourth, I hereby anpoint and constitute my sons Ezriah Dennett and William Dennett jointly executors of this my last Will and Testament and if said Willian Dennett should not have arrived at the years of his majority at my decease then my son Ezriah Dennett shall act as sole executor, my son William shall attain his majority and shall then act as executor with said Ezriah.

In witness whereof I have after hearing the contents of the same read and being acquainted therewith subscribe by mark to the same in the presence of witnesses as my last Will end Testament this September the 24th day A.D. 1866.

I, I. J. Mitchell, a resident of said county and state being duly sworn declare and say that on the 24th day of September A.D. 1866 at the special instance and request of Robert Dennett deceased, late of Boone County, Iowa I proceeded to the residence of the said Robert Dennett. I found him in the full possession of all his mental faculties, that the said Robert Dennett then and there upon the 24th day of
September A.D. 1866 in the presence of M. A. Parr and myself after hearing the contents of the said paper hereto attached read and being made acquainted with the contents of the same and subscribed by making his mark to the same and declaring the same to be his last Will and Testament and I further declare that I and the said M. A. Parr then and there and at the request of the said Robeth  Dennett and in his presence and in the presence of each other subscribe our names each of us resoectively to said instrument of writing hereto attached as witnesses to the last Will and Testament of the said Robert Dennett.
