I am a Schaffter from France, retired English teacher, and my aim is to link all the members of the Schaffter galaxy who emigrated from Switzerland all over the world.

Thanks to the Wright County Genweb website, I have been able to trace Charles Albin Schaffter and get some information on him and his son Charles Eugene Schaffter who was a senator in Iowa as well as his family.

But I can't find the marriage of Charles Albin with Lucy Kate HALL before 1864, nor her death record since Charles Albin remarried Della Martina DOVE from Illinois on 15:5:1879 in Patton Twp., Ford, Illinois. Lucy Hall was the mother of the senator.

I can't find the marriage of Eugene Schaffter, the senator, with Hattie Heckhart in 1894, she was born in Algona, Kossuth, Iowa. I could find her sister Jessie, her brother Grant Winfield Heckhart.

I couldn't find dates for their daughter Camilla Schaffter who is supposed to be born January 1898 in Iowa. I don't know either if she was married and has descendants. Her sister Dorothy Schaffter was single and I have her dates.

Do you think you can give me some clues? it's difficult from France to have access to the official registers or parish records. Looking forward to hearing from you.
