Emma Bell unknown last name

SIMMERMAN, SLATE, SLAIGHT, SLEIGHT, SHERIFF

My Great Grandmother was named Emma Bell and born 30 Jul 1878 in Goldfield, Wright, Iowa.
I am not sure of her last name. Her mother may have been Ellen Simmerman. Emma Bell was married as Emma Bell Sheriff.
Ellen Simmerman married a John William Sheriff in 1879. I believe Emma may have also used the name Sleight/Slate which was the name of Ellen's second husband William Henry Slaight.
I also believe that Ellen Simmerman's parents were James Wesley Simmerman and Eliza Vandasall.

I am hoping to find birth information for Emma Bell that will tell me what her last name really was!
