Go to the Iowawpagraves.org website and search under Franklin County for Martha McCoy. I found that she died 12 February 1885 and is buried in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Dows, Morgan Township, Franklin County, Iowa. There is no entry for her in FindAGrave at this time. Her husband David apparently remarried a woman named Susan later on. They were living in Illinois in 1900 where he was a day laborer. I could find no reason why Belle was committed to Glenwood State School as all the census reports I saw showed that she could read and write. Hope this helps!
