Thanks, Lola, for the update. It just proves that censuses and other records can have conflicting information and without personal knowledge, they can often be misinterpreted. The 1900 census, for example, showing that they had been married 8 years and that the wife was the mother of the one child is a perfect example of how something can appear one way and not be true. Have you located the marriage between Orin and Lorraine? You might also look at Sioux City since one record I found showed that Clyde was born there in 1899. Another thought would be an obituary or death notice for Althea in April 1899 in the newspaper.
