I am including your grandmother, Nettie Thorn Streit's obituary and 4 generations of Streit ancestry. I hope this answers some of your questions. There is some further ancestry on the Untereiner line if you are interested.
Nettie Streit was born in Union, Iowa on August 26, 1880, the daughter of Lemuel and Belle Brooks Thorn. She was united in marriage to Jule Streit on December 20, 1901, who preceded her in death April 3, 1941. Also preceding her in death was a son, James Streit, who died April, 1966. Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Saturday at the Eyler Funeral Home. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. She is survived by three sons, Herman of St. Paul, Minnesota; John of Oelwein, Iowa; and Wallace of Waterloo, Iowa; one daughter, Mrs. Roy (June) Gragert of Rock Falls, Illinois with whom she was making her home at the time of her death; four brothers, Otis, Walter and N. Thorn of Eagle Grove, Iowa, and Harold Thorn of Tucson, Arizona; nine grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. Mrs. Streit was a long time resident of Clarion. In earlier days she was active in community events. She was received as a member of the Methodist church on profession of Faith when Rev. L. H. Preul was pastor. She was a long time member of the Royal Neighbors and also belonged to the Rebekah's. She was 86 at the time of her death.

She was born 26 Aug 1880 in Union, Hardin, Iowa, and died 1 Feb 1967 in Clarion, Wright, Iowa. She was the daughter of Lemuel Thorne and Belle Brooks.

2. John Streit, born 2 Apr 1827 in Germany; died 3 Mar 1911 in Eagle Grove, Wright, Iowa. He married Sophia Untereiner 4 Jul 1878 in Whiteside County, Illinois.
3. Sophia Untereiner, born 26 May 1851 in New York; died 11 Feb 1908 in Eagle Grove, Wright, Iowa. She was the daughter of Dominick Untereiner and Margaret Sharkopf. Sophia married first to George Baer 31 Jan 1869 in Whiteside County, Illinois; John Streit and Sophia Streit are buried in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove, Iowa.

6. Dominick Untereiner, born 20 Dec 1825 in Alsace Lorraine, France; died 22 Dec 1886 in Sterling, Whiteside, Illinois. He was the son of ? Untereiner and Lenna ?. He married Margaret Sharkopf.
7. Margaret Sharkopf, born Sep 1833 in Hesse Darmstadt, Germany; died 26 Mar 1906 in Sterling, Whiteside, Illinois.
