It appears that both brothers may have been printers in Virginia in 1860, not just one. Please see the census for Lynchburg. Someone other than the brothers apparently talked to the enumerator because little information is given for the two men, just that they were both printers. It does appear that C A Schaffter was entered twice on the census and that it was not an error because two different ages were given. Did the coming Civil War separate the brothers, one going into the Confederate Army and one to Canada? By the way, C. Albin's request for a passport was interesting. How could he afford a world-wide tour when he was in his early 20's?
