The Rev. H. J. Westberg officiated at the funeral, assisted by the Rev. Thor Sigmond. Burial was in the Kensett Cemetery. Relatives came from Chicago, Duluth, Austin, Lyle and Laek Mills for the services.
Peter A. Dahl was born in Hommelvik, Trondheim, Norway, March 3, 1866, son of Mr. and Mrs. Soren Dahl. At the age of 22 he emigrated to America with his mother, four sisters and one brother and arrived at Manly, May 22, 1888, where he made his home with his brother, Chris Dahl and family, and worked with his brother. They did carpenter work together for about three years.
On July 4, 1891, he was married to Miss Marie Berge who also emigrated at the same time from the same place in Norway. In the spring of 1891 he bought an 80 acre farm of Mr. Hansrud of Kensett, where he built his home and started farming, doing carpenter work as a sideline. Later he bought two farms close by which he rented to his two adopted sons. He and his wife joined the Bethany Lutheran church soon after it was built in 1894. He is survived by his wife and three adopted children, Arthur M. Dahl and Walter E. Dahl, both of Manly, and Mildred, Mrs. L. A. Wood, Ottumwa.
