Jason Carl Gramstad
(September 22, 1949 - December 24, 2010)Jason Carl Gramstad, 61, of Mason City, died Friday, December 24, 2010, at the Iowa Veterans Home. A gathering of friends and family will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Military Honors will be performed by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association. Per Jasons request, he will be cremated. Memorials may be directed to the Jason C. Gramstad Memorial Fund in care of the family.
Jason was born September 22, 1949, in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Melvin and Burnetta (Schleeter) Gramstad. He attended school in Richfield, MN and upon graduating Jason enlisted in the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Ranger (CVA-61) during the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage from 1970 -1984 to Connie Wike. To this union two children were born, Brian & Sara. In 1979 he and his business partner built Nordic Lanes in Northwood, IA in which he owned & operated until 1984. Jason worked for River City Ready Mix until he purchased the Rose Bowl in Mason City, IA in 1995. Jason owned & operated the Rose Bowl where he made many friends; in 2007 he began his early retirement. Jason was a member of the VFW post 733. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cribbage, singing Neil Diamond songs at karaoke and just visiting with friends. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Sara (Kris) Zilge of Mason City; son, Brian (Jessica) Gramstad of Farmington, MN; grandchildren, Peyton and Hayden Zilge, Cole Gramstad and Madeline Gramstad; mother, Burnetta Gramstad of Darwin, MN.
