Divorce Record

I am trying to locate a possible divorce record for my great-grandmother Clara Marshall Thornton from her husband Charles Thornton.
Probably somewhere between late 1898 and early 1902. Charles & Clara had one child born in Danbury - Frank, in 1896, and possibly Ruth in 1898.
We are told by family that Charles Thornton left for work one morning and never returned, and I have been attempting to find some record of him.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
