Raymond Leroy Zellmer, age 98 of Lawton, Iowa, died Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Kingsley Specialty Care in Kingsley, Iowa.

Funeral service were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025 at Kingsley Funeral Home & Monument/Rohde Funeral Home in Kingsley, Iowa with Pastor Janell Norton officiating. Visitation began at 10:00 a.m. with family present during this time. Burial will be at a later date. Services have been entrusted to Kingsley Funeral Home & Monument of Kingsley, IA. www.kingsleyfh.com

He was born on December 23, 1926, to Otto and Bertha (Porsch) Zellmer in Banner Township. He was raised at the farm north of Lawton, Iowa. He received his education at Lawton Schools. He attended and graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, with a business degree. When Ray first began his working career he was a realtor, worked at the Sioux City Stockyards, and also worked for the railroad.

Ray lived and worked his whole life on the same farm he grew up on north of Lawton. His hobbies included gardening, farming, and raising livestock; however, his first love was farming. He continued to farm for over thirty years after his retirement, planting and harvesting his own corn well into his 90s.

Ray was raised in the church at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville, Iowa, where his family were founding members that helped build this church.

Survivors include one sister, Arlene Bergendahl, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Preceding him in death were his parents and four brothers: Harold, Donald, Alvin, and Ervin.
