Marian L. Gallagher, 90, of Hornick, Iowa, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Whispering Creek Senior Living, surrounded by her family.

A funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 15, 2025 at the Southern Hills Baptist Church, Sioux City, Iowa with Pastor Daniel Southwick, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Marian’s obituary. A luncheon will follow the service at the church. Burial will follow in the Willow Township Cemetery, Holly Springs, Iowa. A visitation will be 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. Friday, February 14, 2025 with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Marian Lorraine was born November 18, 1934, in rural Holly Springs, Iowa, the daughter of Oliver and Cora (Fredrickson) Weber. She grew up in Holly Springs and went to Holly Springs High School graduating with the class of 1952. Marian attended Iowa State Teachers College for one year.

Marian and Junior Johnny Gallagher were united into marriage on September 4, 1953, in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. To this union three children were born, Don, Darlene, and Dennis. Marian was a farm wife and homemaker and lived on the farm until seven months ago. Marian was a National Weather Service observer for over 60 years.

Marian was an active member at the Southern Hills Baptist Church, where she was a long time Sunday School Teacher, Awana leader, and Vacation Bible School teacher. Marian also hosted Friendship Bible Coffees in her home and volunteered for many years with Child Evangelism Fellowship. This includes the Good News Club and Mailbox Club.

She enjoyed gardening, embroidery, making quilts, and making gingerbread houses. She also was a member of the Hornick Library Club and volunteered at Westwood Community School.

Survivors include her children, Don Gallagher of Sloan, Iowa, Darlene (Greg) Mowry of Burnsville, Minnesota, and Dennis (Lori) Gallagher of Holly Springs, Iowa; grandchildren, Matthew (Nicole) Mowry of Lakeville, Minnesota, Lori Pfannenstein of Oak Grove, Minnesota, Nathan (Kaitie) Mowry of Lausanne, Switzerland, Johnathan (Koriene) Gallagher of Sioux Center, Iowa, Michael (Maria) Gallagher of Holly Springs, Iowa, and Christy (Steven) Ritter of Casper, Wyoming; great-grandchildren, Callie Pfannenstein, Brianna Pfannenstein, Haley Mowry, Mattalyn Mowry, Kaida Gallagher, Aaron Gallagher, Audrey Gallagher, Zayne Gallagher, and Saylor Gallagher; sister, Deloras (Leo) Keck of Kingsley, Iowa; brother, Roland (Cindy) Weber of Springdale, Arkansas; brother-in-law, Richard (Linda) Gallagher of Manhattan, Kansas; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Gallagher; parents, Oliver and Cora (Fredrickson) Weber; one brother, Ed (Marietta) Weber; and one sister, Betty (Darrell) Ritchie.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Marian’s memory may be given to the family and made payable to Child Evangelism Fellowship or Southeran Hills Baptist Church.
