July 28, 1951 - April 13, 2024

SIOUX CITY - Barbara Lynn Preston, age 72, of Sioux City, Iowa passed away April 13, 2024, unexpectedly at home.

Barbara was born July 28, 1951, in Denison, Iowa to Derwon and Marjorie (Sommer) Preston. Barb graduated from Missouri Valley High School with the class of 1969.

Barb was a proud employee at St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City, IA for 48 years and 10 months, retiring December 23, 2022. Barb had a love for Reading, Baseball, Needlepoint, Quilting, Beading, Longaberger Baskets, Bowling, Calligraphy and spending time with family and friends. She was a longtime Member At-Large of the Embroiderers' Guild of America and the Siouxland EGA Chapter and served in many officer positions. She traveled all over the US to attend Seminars and Classes. Barb was also a member of the Siouxland Samplers Quilters Guild.

Remaining to cherish Barbara's memory are her siblings: Darlys (Kevin) Sylvis of Madison, SD, Kim (Valerie) Preston of Council Bluffs, IA, Denise Preston of Missouri Valley, IA, Craig Preston of Cedar Rapids, IA, Lisa Jones of Auburn, NE, Kyle (Kathy) Preston of Missouri Valley, IA, Michelle Schommer of Norfolk, NE, Julie (Chad) Stork of Blair, NE and many nieces, nephews, great nephews, great nieces, cousins and many friends.

Preceding Barb in death are her parents, Ray and Marge, infant brother Bruce, grandparents, and other relatives.

Memorial donations in Barbara's memory may be directed to the family.

Visitation with family will be June 8, 2024, at 9:30am with service beginning at 10:30am at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa.
