James (Jim) Murray, 63, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025, at his home in Calmar. He was a beloved husband, father, son, sibling, uncle, grandfather and friend.
Jim was born on March 4, 1961, in Boscobel, Wisconsin to John and Lela (Feakes) Murray. He attended South Winneshiek school, but due to a critical accident he finished his schooling later in life earning his GED. As a young man, he tended bar at the Cavern in Decorah. He later followed
in his father’s footsteps and began work at Foremost Farms USA (Wisconsin Dairy). He then worked for TreeHouse Foods (formally known as Bay Valley Foods) in New Hampton.Jim enjoyed many activities, hunting, fishing, woodworking, and spent several years devoted to the Boy Scout Association. Here both him & his son excelled, both reaching high honors. Jim earned his Leadership Wood Badge & son Zack the Eagle Scout.
After leaving the workforce & dealing with health issues. Jim branched into rock hunting, jewelry making & knife crafting industry. Along with this came time spent on his passion of motorcycles & traveling.
He is survived by his Wife, Stacey Haas-Murray of Calmar, his Children, Zackariah (Krysta) Murray of Decorah and Mikaila Murray of Cresco; Mother, Lela (Freakes) Murray of Ossian, Mother-in-law Tessa Haas of Searcy, Arkansas: Grandchild, Sadie Rose Murray of Decorah;
Stepchildren: Megan Brumley of Cairo, Missouri, Michelle Young of Decorah and Mitchell (Sarah) Bland of Bald Knob, Arkansas; Step-grandchildren; Gracie, Avery, Reagan, Jasper, Grainger, Langston, Tylei, Tyson, Gunar & Allie. Siblings: Terry Murray of San Antonio, Texas, Fred (Diana) Murray of Fredericksburg, John Jr. (Nancy) Murray of Lansing and Mary (Frank Karnik) of Fort Atkinson; and many nieces,
nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.Jim was met in heaven by his father, John Murray Sr.; sister, Cathy Murray; paternal grandparents Fredrick and Katherine; and maternal grandparents, Wayne and Florence Feakes.
His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
A private funeral service for family and close friends will be held at a later date. Helms Funeral
