Pasha Kay Quaas, age 47 of Northfield, Minn., passed away on Tuesday morning, Jan. 28, 2025.

Pasha was born in Decorah, Iowa, on Christmas Day in 1977, the daughter of Arnie and Julie (Lange) Dahlen. She was raised in the Decorah area, with her brothers Aaron and Aarik, and attended Decorah High School. She would go on to attend the University of Iowa where she graduated at the top of her class with an honors degree in Business Administration in 2000.

Pasha had known the love of her life, Justin Quaas, since they were kids and the two would eventually be united in marriage on Sept. 2, 2000 at the First Lutheran Church in Decorah. Their union was blessed with three children, Annika ‘Anni’, Peyton, and Bennett.

Pasha enjoyed scrap-booking and had a specially stocked room in her house just for crafting. Her creativity extended to entertaining family and friends, decorating, and baking holiday treats for New Year’s Eve, Christmas, the 4th of July, and so many more. The kid’s birthdays were amazingly elaborate, especially the girls’ 7th birthdays: a rainbow party, which included a homemade rainbow cake, rainbow banners, and rainbow drinks.

Pasha was a relentless optimist, and always had inspiring quotes and words for the house, herself, and others. In her free time Pasha loved to do puzzles, read, and plan the next family adventure. A particular favorite destination was the Minnesota North Shore. Pasha adored the card game “500”, especially if a round included beating her father Arnie. Pasha was a tireless supporter of the schools, a dedicated substitute teacher, and was instrumental in helping school bond referendums getting passed.

Family appreciated Pasha’s sharp mind and wit. Pasha was on every possible board and volunteer sports group, and her voice stood out in the crowd at every event. Her hugs were many and extended, with an abiding belief that hugs longer than 8 seconds could heal any or at least help any problem. Her intelligence, caring attitude, and indefatigable spirit to fight for her people and what was right defined her.

Pasha will always be remembered and missed by her husband of 25 years, Justin, and their children Anni, Peyton, and Bennett; parents Arnie and Julie Dahlen; brothers Aaron (Kerbie) Dahlen and Aarik (Carolyn) Dahlen; parents-in-law Max and Linda Quaas; brother-in-law Josh (Claudia) Quaas; as well as her nieces, nephews, other extended family and countless friends.

A Celebration of Pasha’s Life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday Feb. 1, at Bethel Lutheran Church of Northfield. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, Pasha’s wish would be memorial donations for academic scholarships, presently being created at both Northfield and Decorah high schools. Checks are being accepted at Heritage Bank, 1520 Clinton Lane, Northfield MN 55057, to “Pasha Kay Northfield Scholarship” or the “Pasha Kay Decorah Scholarship”. Arrangements are with the Bierman, Benson, & Langehough Funeral Home of Northfield. www.northfieldfuneral.com
