Mary Ann Etteldorf was born October 17, 1955, in Ossian, IA, to Peter and Helen (McDonald) Etteldorf. Mary Ann had difficulty with school and spent many years living at home. She gained independence through living in group homes and finding employment in sheltered workshops in Cresco and Waukon. Mary Ann had been a resident of Northgate Care Center in Waukon since 2020. Though mindful of her disabilities, family, friends, and staff would first recognize her smile, how she could recall your name, her enthusiasm for bingo, stuffed animals, cards and letters, chocolate and ice tea, and her desire to be your friend. Mary Ann was perfect the way she was.

Mary Ann's father passed away in 1995 and her mother in 2009. She had no siblings. Mary Ann is survived by Chris Etteldorf of Decorah, Rob and Lisa Etteldorf of Eden Prairie, MN, Tom Barloon of Swisher, IA, David Barloon and Julie Holicky of Iowa City, Rebecca Barloon of Des Moines, IA, Rachel Barloon of Eugene, OR, Grace Barloon of Madison, WI, and the McDonald and Goltz families in NE Iowa and Washington State.

TASC of Waukon gave Mary Ann purpose, stability, and friendship-all of which is appreciated beyond measure. Mary Ann's family wish to express their deepest thanks to the staff at Northgate Care Center in Waukon for the work and kindness given to Mary Ann - she always said that Northgate was her home.
