Ada Maria Van Wey was born January 23, 1863, at Frankville, where the greater part of her life has been lived. March 4, 1885, she was married to Geo. E. Bovenizer at Decorah, Iowa. In her early life she was converted and united with the Presbyterian church of this place and later became a member of a Presbyterian church at Waterloo, and has always held steadfast to her faith. About 10 years ago she with her husband moved to Waterloo, where she resided until her death which occurred May 6, 1914, at the St. Francis hospital two days following an operation for a cancer. God called her and the happy home she has left is shadowed in gloom that a short time before was so bright with her presence. The chain of brothers and sisters that has been unbroken for so many years is severed, not to be linked again until in the Father’s home above where there is no more sickness and death. The true and faithful husband, four brothers and four sisters remain to cherish her memory. They are George DeWitt, John Van Wey of Frankville, Bert Van Wey of Columbus Junction, Mrs. Mary Webster of Ossian, Mrs. Emma Peck of Waterloo, Mrs. Nellie Spann and Mrs. Edith Waters of this place, besides a large circle of friends. Mrs. Bovenizer was a member of the Brotherhood of American Yeomen, also a member of the Eastern Star. The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church here Friday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Mason who preached a very appropriate sermon, and she was laid to rest amid a profusion of beautiful flowers. Members of the Yeomen and Masonic orders acted as pall bearers. The bereaved ones extend their sincere thanks to all those who so kindly assisted them in their deep sorrow.
