I have been very lucky in finding a tremendous amount of info I hadn't found before, because of the advent of census on line. But the particular family line I am tracing has now begun to interest me in a more historical way. My great, great, great Grandparents Elisha and Annis Lathrop moved to Webster County from up state New York sometime between 1860 and 1870. I have census records that show them in New York in 1860, but in Webster County, Fort Dodge in 1870, 1880, and most likely 1890. The whole family was as follows: Elisha Lathrop(1821-aft1892),wife Annis(1820-aft1900), George(1848-), Myron(1850-?), Jeremiah--Jerry---J.H.(1854-?), and Fanny(1860-?). My great great grandfather was Jeremiah. I believe he married a local Scotish immigrant named Sarah(Sadie)Richie, who was working as a servant for a Irish family named Nicholson in the 1880's. She had a child in Denver named Martin Elisha(1888), a second child Blanche(1891) in an unknown location, and a third child Cora(1892),most likely back in Fort Dodge(Webster county list of farmers for 1892 lists Jerry Lathrop and E. Lathrop). Sarah(Sadie)Lathrop died apparently still in Fort Dodge only a few months later(Early 1893). Perhaps the father Elisha also passed away near this same time. My great, great, aunt Fanny apparently married a man with the last name of Curtis, and moved to Kansas City. The next time the rest of the family shows up they are out of Fort Dodge, and now in Dodge City Kansas of all places. The family then consists of J.H., Martin, Cora, and J.H.'s mother Annis.
If anybody ever runs across any information that can help me with anything at all, I would appreciate so much if you can contact me. I would offer pay for info, but I'm poor, and am planning a trip to Iowa anyway in April or May 2002. Still, if you see anything please give me a yell. I would love to write a book about these pioneers.
