Margie Louise (Hulen) Lasek, age 88, of Washington, Iowa, formerly of Ainsworth, Iowa, died Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at the Halcyon House in Washington.

Celebration of life services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at the Ainsworth Community Church with Pastor Jason Collier officiating. Calling hours will begin 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 4th, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 Monday evening. Interment will take place at the Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Ainsworth Community Church, Ainsworth Opera House or the American Home Finding Association in Ottumwa, Iowa. Margie was born September 1, 1933, in Schuyler County, Missouri, the daughter of Fern Wiley and Ella Anna (McCartney) Hulen. She attended school in Lancaster, Missouri graduating from Lancaster High School. Margie was united in marriage to Raymond Leroy Lasek on August 8, 1954, in Lancaster, Missouri.

Margie worked as a secretary at a law firm in Ottumwa, Iowa. She later worked at the Washington Evening Journal and at the Ainsworth State Bank.

Margie was a member of the Ainsworth Community Church, Ainsworth Community Church Women, Red Hat Society, Toastmasters, Martha Washington Questers and belonged to several bridge clubs. Margie loved to dance, play cards and travel. She and Raymond hosted foreign exchange students for a number of years. Margie enjoyed cooking, quilting and entertaining. She was especially known for her Halloween parties and her laughter.

She is survived by son, Bryan Ray Lasek and wife Colleen of Ainsworth, Iowa; daughter, Robyn Peck of Washington, Iowa; four grandsons: Jesse Lasek and wife Betsy of Ainsworth, Iowa; Blake Lasek of Ainsworth, Iowa; Richard Simmons and wife Samantha of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; Ray Simmons and wife Janeene of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; three great grandchildren: Preston Lasek, Richard Simmons, and Ryan Simmons. She is also survived by 21 foreign exchange students.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2000; and two brothers, Gene and Richard Hulen.
