SAYLOR, GILLFILLEN, PERKINS, JAMES

Searching forever for my great grandfather Saylor, unknown first name. My great grand mother Caroline Gillfillen was born about 1850 to Amaziah and Belle Jane Gillfillen in Warren Co. Iowa. She married Neal Perkins in 1867 and they apparently split up as there is a record of Neal marrying A. M. Augustine in 1870. Caroline then had a relationship with the unknown Saylor and Stella Saylor, my grand mother, was born in 1876. I have not found a Caroline/Neal divorce record nor Caroline/unknown Saylor marriage or divorce records. Finally I do have a record of Caroline marrying Annon James in 1880 in Winterset, Madison Co. Iowa. They had two daughters Sadie and Bessie before Caroline died in 1886. Stella married my grand father James E. Brown in 1892. This marriage record says that Stella's father is William Gillfillen, an obvious error, at least, with the last name. Stella never lived with her mother in the James household. She stayed with her grand parents Amaziah and Belle Jane Gillfillen and actually went by the name Stella Gillfillen. Any help in identifying this unknown Saylor would be much appreciated. A prime suspect is William H. Saylor, b. abt 1848, son of Benjamin Jr. No census record of William after 1870 until the 1920 census shows a William Saylor living with his nephew Charles Vestal.
Sincerely,
Robert Boyer
