Howard Dale Hamilton, 71, 2309 Ave. C, died at 4:55 p.m. Monday, April 23, at Burlington Medical Center. He had been in failing health five years and seriously ill two weeks.
A long-time Fort Madison resident, Mr. Hamilton was born April 6, 1919, at New Boston, Ia. He was a retired employee of the Du Pont Co. with more than 30 years of service. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene of Fort Madison. An Army veteran of World War II, he was also a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
On Dec. 4, 1941, at Kahoka, Mo., he married Wilmeta M. Gee, who survives.
Also surviving are five daughters, Marilyn Paramore, Headland, Ala., Carolyn Kurtz, Newton, Kan., Marlene Aspinall, Littleton, Colo., Sharon Minteer, Normal, Ill., and Betty Jo Jayroe, Fort Madison; two brothers, Keith of Cedar Falls and Hubert of Salem, S.C. a sister, Eunice Fish, Farmington; 13 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son. His parents were Hubert and Josephine Anson Hamilton.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Church of the Nazarene. The Rev. Thomas Lorimer will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
The body is at the King-Lynk Funeral Home where friends may call after noon Wednesday and where the family will meet friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
A memorial is being established with the First Church of the Nazarene. Contributions may be made at the King-Lynk Funeral Home.
