Mary Harryman Loveless

Mary Harryman Loveless, daughter of Francis S. and Lucy Brewster Harryman, was born April 9, 1912 near Douds and died Monday, Oct. 1989 at Washington County Hospital, Washington at the age of 77.

She grew up near Douds High School, attended Iowa State Teachers College, and graduated from Parsons College in 1962. She taught in Douds, in rural schools in Van Buren and Jefferson Counties, and in Washington schools.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Washington, TTT, and various teacher organizations.

She married Earl A. Loveless May 25, 1935 at Blakesburg. They lived in Birmingham and Washington. Mr. Loveless died in 1983. Three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

Surviving are a son, Michael, Washington, two daughters, Nancy Sleichter, Riverside and Linda Reber, Edina, Minn. and seven grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Josephine Lewis, Selma and two brothers, Lucien Harryman, Manson and Harold Harryman, Douds, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 4, 1989 at 10:30 a.m. in First United Methodist Church, Washington with Rev. Mary Johnson and Rev. Harold Harryman officiating. Interment was in Elm Grove Cemetery, Washington. Memorials were established for her church and the Washington with Rev. Harold Harryman officiating. Memorials were established for her church and the Washington Elementary Schools computer program. Arrangements were in charge of Eden Funeral Home, Washington.
