Owens rites tonight, Tuesday

Greta D. Owens, 82, Douds, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 1989, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Winfield with the Rev. Stephen Metcalf-Conte officiating. A memorial service will be held at 7 tonight at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds with the Rev. Harold Harryman officiating. Friends may call at their convenience at the funeral home where the family will be from 7 to 8 tonight. Burial will be at Cambrian Cemetery west of Columbus City. Memorials may be left at the funeral home.

Mrs. Owens was born Aug. 21, 1907, in Louisa County near Columbus Junction, the daughter of William and Lula Buffington Hinton. She graduated from Crawfordsville High School, lived near Ainsworth, in Crawfordsville, Washington, Winfield, Columbus Junction, moved to Selma in 1981 and to Douds in 1984. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Columbus Junction and attended Selma United Methodist Church. She married Glenn J. Owens Feb. 29, 1932, at Kahoka, Mo. He died in 1985.

Surviving are two daughters, Phyllis Cornwell of Pineville, Mo., Shirley Kunzman of Douds; a son, Ronald of Canton, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and a brother, Reuben Hinton of Waterloo. Two infant sons, three sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
