Mary Lucille Smith

Mary Lucille Smith, 59, of Memphis, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, in her home.

She was born May 20, 1930, in Schuyler County, Mo., the daughter of William and Minnie Mae Gray Singleton. She married Herbert T. Lucas on July 11, 1947, in Idaho. He preceded her in death in May 1955. She later married Donald Smith in Kirksville on Sept. 7, 1957. He preceded her in death on May 29, 1989. She had been a resident of Memphis for the past 28 years.

Survivors include her daughters, Mrs. Ken (Elaine) Cross and Mrs. Stanley (Sharon) Humphrey, both of Memphis and Mrs. Alan (Phyllis) Gaffney of Milton, Iowa; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild, two sisters and one brother.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, a sister and four brothers.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Memphis Cemetery.

Visitation will be tonight at the Payne-Gerth Chapel in Memphis with the family meeting friends from 7-9 p.m.
